Point Arena Lighthouse

Where Land Meets Sea

The Point Arena Lighthouse is located on a narrow peninsula that extends almost to the edge of the US pacific coast. For 152 years the lighthouse has guided ships along the western seaboard of California. At times the peninsula is hidden in layers of fog, but occasionally the sun breaks out and photographers grab their cameras. The beauty of the white lighthouse contrasted against the rugged cliffs and crashing waves will inspire the artist in anyone. Located directly next to the lighthouse is the Point Arena-Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal Monument. This 1,665-acre coastal treasure offers eight miles of paths along the rugged coastline with magnificent views of bluffs, beaches, dunes, sea arches, and the Garcia River Estuary.
